Btw if you are a female game developer and have completed a game, I WANT TO KNOW! Free or commercial, any genre, any length, I want to know about it. And if you haven’t completed your game yet, no problem, tell me about it in the future.
Hey, I’m a game artist as well, at the moment I work as an artist for a German game company.
I made my first own, “bigger” game in university, with a team of other really talented students. The game is called The Balloon Quest, and it’s about a little girl who can’t walk, but instead can fly with the help of a magic balloon, and about her brother and the adventures they live through.
We completed three levels, you can download the game for free (Windows and Mac) or just view the trailer here: http://balloonquest.at/
And of course I’m always really happy about any kind of feedback :)

um… did any of you ever notice that there is a face on Bee’s butt? Or is that just me?

In German, there is no destinct word for kite, instead people just use the word dragon (Drache). No matter what the acutal shape is, you go fly a dragon. Not bad actually…

The crystal gems are a lovely example for using different shapes and silhouettes to design and distinguish characters from one another. I gave it a go and broke them down to the most simple, basic versions.
What’s interesting as well is that the gems seem to correspond somewhat with the shapes and color pairings that Kandinsky proposed in the 1920s, where he associated the square with the color red, the triangle with yellow and the circle with blue.
Of course I am stretching it a bit when pairing Pearl with yellow, also, it has to be said that Kandinskys theory itself is really subjective and in no way scientific. Still, it was a fun observation to make :)

One of the Ootori-Sama, the bird spirits from Spirited Away. I just love how their design is so simple and yet so uniquely cute and funny.

I bought a Wii U and started playing Wind Waker. It’s really amazing, and the style is so cute, so I did a little self portrait :)
